Life Through the Lens
Hello world! Welcome to my first ever photography blog post. I appreciate you being here. This is where you can find the stories and inspiration behind the photos I take as well as a peak into the life of a photographer.
In the beginning of 2020, life changed for everyone. Covid-19 impacted us all in unexpected ways. To cope with these changes, many of us took up a new hobby; for me it was photography. I've always had a fascination with the mechanics of photography and appreciated the artistic capacity of the craft. After bouncing from college to college and degree to degree I found myself at a loss and with no desire for traditional education. Photography became my new thing. After taking courses at Art Institute, I truly fell in love with it and have greatly expanded my skills at the craft. Learning is a passion and I'm always looking for ways to improve on my knowledge and skills.

This is one of my favorite shots. While the final product looks nothing like it did out of camera, it took a lot of planning to achieve the look I was going for. I drive past this small barn almost once a week and it always catches my photographic eye. So often the sky is clear and the sun is harsh making for a harshly lit photo. With this in mind I had to wait for a beautifully overcast day which happened perfectly on one April showers morning. I puled over across the street from the field in which this barn lives. In between the passing traffic and scattered shower I snapped this photo using a bracketed exposure method. After blending the 3 resulting photos (under, medium, and overexposed) in Light Room, I edited to achieve this moody and contrasty look.
Stay Tuned
